The Walter Butler Community Center

The Walter Butler Community Center, located at Bernice G Jackson Park N Cocoa Blvd in Cocoa FL, offers a variety of fun activities for all ages. Its 18,000 square foot facility includes a gymnasium, meeting rooms, kitchen for public use, and more. Its events are a great way to spend time with friends and family. During Black History Month, the center will host several events to celebrate the life of a longtime community leader. A resolution honoring Butler will be passed Tuesday at the Brevard County Commission meeting, and Friday’s Black History Month Celebration will be dedicated to him. The park is located on the corner of N Cocoa Blvd and N Lake Drive. There are plenty of parking options for visitors. Some parking spots are free for the day while others may require a small fee. The UF/IFAS Agricultural Center Disaster Recovery Center remains open daily from 8 AM to 6 PM. Representatives from FEMA, the US Army Corps of Engineers’ Operation Blue Roof program, the Small Business Administration, CareerSource Brevard’s disaster unemployment program and United Way of Brevard are on site to help residents with roof tarps, filing for FEMA assistance and applying for low-interest loans. They also can provide assistance with registering for the disaster food stamp program and other programs.
